A new technique in cancer diagnosis may eliminate the need for invasive biopsies. The scan uses sound waves to make the tumour mass vibrate and can tell a doctor if the mass is benign or cancerous on the spot. Julia Layton reports that “In a small elastography study whose results were revealed at a radiology conference in 2006, elastographs correctly identified benign versus malignant tumors with a nearly 100 percent success rate.” (Layton, 2006). So check with your practitioner if this scan is available to you and go ahead and check out the full article at HowStuffWorks “Will elastography replace biopsies?”

When you or a loved one tackles the bad news of cancer, the amount of information can be totally overwhelming. I just spoke with a lady today, who is trying to encourage a relative to consider using non-toxic dietary supplements as she tries to handle chemotherapy at the same time. And it came down to this simple fact: the relative is overwhelmed with treatment and negative thoughts right now, that it is to hard for her to learn. All her energy is going into her emotional and physical stress and there is nothing left for the mind to absorb new information.

I have been impressed with a USA not-for-profit cancer information and referral agency, called The Center for Advancement in Cancer Education. They will personally speak with anyone tackling cancer one-on-one and also educate youth and children for the prevention of cancer, very important work.

Don’t wait until you are overwhelmed before you learn more about Cancer, how it works, how to prevent it and what your treatment options are. Start learning today.
